Ray Watson of Hereford, a former Wellington resident, died Sunday, September 8, in an Amarillo Hospital.
Mr. Watson was born in August 1922 in Wellington, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Watson, who farmed a mile east of Wellington on the Mangum Highway for many years and where thy raised their 7 children.
Ray Watson was an outstanding Skyrocket football player during his years at Wellington High School, graduating in 1940. He moved to Hereford in 1941.
He served in the Army Air Corps in World War II and was a retired postal clerk in Hereford.
He married Reba Morris in 1943 in Amarillo.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Reba Watson of Hereford; a son, Terry Watson of Longview; two daughters, Connie Ubancryk and Shannon Haggar, both of Hereford; two sisters, Edice Copeland of Amarillo and Juanita Hall of Lubbock, and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Carl Paul, Virgil and Dale Watson.
