Leona Rose Adams, 85, died at 8:33 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2011, in Herrin Hospital. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Tower Heights Cemetery in West Frankfort, with Monsignor Ken Schaefer officiating. There will be no public visitation. Leona Rose Adams, 85, passed away at 8:33 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2011, in Herrin Hospital. Leona was born Sept. 13, 1925, in Rosholt, Wis., to Frank and Francis Knitter. She married Granville Adams on July 7, 1951. He preceded her in death Jan. 23, 2004. Leona was retired, having worked at Pet Food Co. of Chicago for more than 20 years. She thoroughly enjoyed crocheting and was of Catholic faith. Leona is survived by stepsons, Jim Adams and wife, Priscilla, of Cottage Grove, Ore., John Adams, Dave Adams and wife, Christine; stepdaughters, Loretta Rentfro and husband, Gene, Lynn Chamness and husband, Bob, all of Johnston City; and stepdaughter-in-law, Evelyn Adams of West Frankfort. She had several stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother, Nick Knitter and wife, Ann; one sister, Evelyn Schulist; brother-in law, Harry Bushman, all of Wisconsin; sisters-in-law, Thelma Denton of Rockford and Carol Adams of Lewistown, Texas. Also survived by several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Chlotilda Korte of Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two stepdaughters, Dorothy and Phyllis Adams; one stepson, Dennis Adams; and one stepdaughter-in-law, Mary Adams. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2011, in Tower Heights Cemetery in West Frankfort with Monsignor Ken Schaefer officiating. Internment will be at the cemetery.
