Services for R.B. "Red" Marshall will be held at Forrest Heights Baptist Church at 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 13, 2011, in Clovis, New Mexico. Burial will follow at Portales Cemetery.
R.B. Marshall died on Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at Canyon Healthcare in Canyon, Texas. He was born June 1, 1914, in Haskell County, Texas to Louis and Willie Webb Marshall. R.B. married his school sweetheart, Neva Marshall, on November 13, 1937. They were married 72 years until Neva's passing on April 1, 2010.
R. B. Marshall , 97 years old, was a pioneer that came by a covered wagon from the Cross Plains to settle in the Panhandle towns of Wellington and Lewdy, Texas and Porter and San Jon, New Mexico.
R.B. was a member of Forrest Heights Baptist Church in Clovis, New Mexico. He was a farmer in Clarendon, Texas and Portales, New Mexico. R. B. worked for Price's Creamery in Portales and then retired from Eastern New Mexico University. R.B. was best known for his "southern engineering". R.B. was a wonderful servant for God and was involved with teaching R.A.'s and played a key role in the Prison/Jail ministries in Portales and Clovis, New Mexico.
R.B. and Neva Marshall spent their final years in Canyon, Texas at Canyon Healthcare. The staff there along with Hospice of the Southwest provided precious loving care for the Marshall's during their stay.
R.B. Marshall was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Michael Marshall; grandson, Michael Adair; granddaughter, Erin Naslund; five sisters, Wilda Lee, Mirdie, Mona, Billie Ray, and Gladdess; and one brother, Bluford.
Mr. Marshall is survived by two daughters, Bonita Hill, Roxie Adair and husband, F.A. Adair of Amarillo, Texas; seven grandchildren, Twilia Chumney, Tammy Naslund, Trenda Sweeney, Michelle Aaron, Bryan Cosby, Tanya Cosby Beatty, and Kristi Keith; one sister, Laverne Williams of Waco, Texas; two cousins, Leota Banister of Claude, Texas, and Glenda Jo Strand of Crane, Texas; a sister-in-law, Josephine Shiplet of Midland, Texas; eight great-granddaughters; ten great-grandsons; 12 great, great grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.
