CLOVIS, N.M. - Neva Marshall, 93, died Thursday, April 1, 2010, in Canyon, Texas.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Forrest Heights Baptist Church in Clovis with Brother Tony Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in Portales Cemetery in Portales by Steed-Todd Funeral Home..

Neva was born July 17, 1916, in Ravealta to pioneer parents, the Rev. Rueben and Clara Shiplet. Neva died surrounded by loved ones at Canyon Healthcare. Neva was raised all over the Panhandle, but made her homes in Clarendon, Texas, San Jon, Portales, Clovis and finally Canyon.

She met and married the love of her life, RB Marshall, on Nov. 13, 1937, in Tucumcari. They started their new married life on the farm of RB's parents in Clarendon.

Neva studied nursing through the mail from the Chicago School of Nursing in the 1940s. She also studied reflexology, which many people benefitted from.

Neva was a member of University Baptist Church in Portales, San Jon First Baptist Church in San Jon and Forrest Heights Baptist Church in Clovis, where she was active in WMU, G.A.'s and taught Sunday school.

Neva's career was taking care of her family and being a wonderful witness for God.

Neva was a true believer in God and did her best to instill His values in her family. Her loving smile and her faith in God touched all of those around her. Her marriage to her husband was solid and filled with love. Because of her faith she was the calm in her family's trials, our prayer warrior, our angel on Earth. Neva exemplified how a true follower of Christ should live. Her family will miss her but are secure in the knowledge that she sits at the feet of Christ and will watch over us and greet us when our time here is complete.

The family would like to thank the staff at Canyon Healthcare and Hospice of the Southwest. They showed as much love to Neva as if they were her family and continue to care for our grandfather, whom they call Pa Pa. We love you and thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Dee Shiplet, Brice Shiplet, Joe Shiplet, Jack Shiplet, Selvy Shiplet and Bertram Shiplet; two sisters, Mayfair Graves and Desi Duke; a son, Michael Clair Marshall; and two grandchildren, Michael Scott Adair and Erin Renae Naslund.

Survivors include her husband R.B. Marshall; a brother, Lemuel Shiplet and wife Josephine; three children, Bonita Hill, Roxie and F.A. Adair; seven grandchildren, Twilia and Roger Chumney, Tammy Naslund, Trenda and Chris Sweeney, Bryan and Patricia Cosby, Tanya and James Beatty, Michelle Aaron and Kristina Adair; 19 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and numerous friends.
