Arno was born to Leo and Ida (Thrun) Boehland on May 5, 1921. He grew up on the family farm west of Bertha and with his love of farming eventually took it over. He married his sweetheart, Anna Mae Leyh, on October 17, 1953. Together they farmed and raised seven children.
Arno was a lifetime resident of Bertha. He was a former member of the NFO, was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and played dartball. He enjoyed playing cards, tinkering and fixing what was broke, baking pies and bread, making and testing stuffing and going for car rides. His favorite activity, however, was farming. He will never be forgotten.
Arno was preceded in death by his son David; his parents; brothers George, Ed, Ernie, Urban and Ivan; and grandson Troy Blashack.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Anna Mae; children Audrey (John) Blashack of Bertha, Harry of Bertha, Ida Hennagir of Bertha, Paul (Susie) of Bertha, Roger (Michelle) of Bertha and Karen (Tim) Rogers of Owatonna; 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; and sisters Lula Culver of Monet, Missouri, Edith Herzberg of Good Thunder and Betty Schwantz of Bertha.
Honorary pallbearers were Amanda Siepker, Heidi Brandsma, Elizabeth Blashack, Amelia Harren, Tracy Smith, Stephanie Ithivongkham, Emilie Erdahl, Tabitha Captain, Anna Bell Lee, Chelsea Wicht and Hayley Rogers.
Pallbearers were Jason, Matthew and Edward Blashack, Joey, Jacob and Riley Boehland, Joshua and Corey Hennagir, Derek and Jarod Rogers.
Interment was in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery at Bertha.
