The funeral service for Anna Mae Boehland of Bertha, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bertha, with Pastor Blake Rickbeil presiding. Visitation will be held on Monday at the Domian-Anderson Chapel in Bertha from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at the church on Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Surrounded by her family, Anna Mae, age 86, passed away on March 9, 2018 at her home near Bertha, MN.

Anna Mae was born weighing less than three pounds, to Elmer and Emma (McAlllister) Leyh on August 20, 1931 in Woodside Township, near Bertha, MN. She attended country school through the eighth grade and Bertha High School. Anna Mae was united in marriage to Arno Leo Boehland on October 17, 1953. They made their home in rural Bertha. She was a loving wife and mom who raised their seven children and worked closely with Arno, picking rock, feeding calves, and much more. At home she enjoyed listening to the radio, gardening, sewing, crocheting, embroidery and reading. She also found joy in playing horseshoes on a women’s team in Bertha and going for rides around the community in the evening. Her special trait was creating quilts for all of her family.

Anna Mae was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Preceding Anna Mae in death were her husband, Arno, on December 4, 2010; son David; grandson Troy Blashack; parents Elmer and Emma; and brother Rodney Leyh.

She is survived by her children Audrey (John) Blashack of Bertha, Harry of Brainerd, Ida Hennagir of Bertha, Paul (Susie) of Bertha, Roger (Michelle) of Bertha and Karen (Tim) Rogers of Owatonna; 22 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren; siblings Dorothy Comstock, Delmer (Theresa) Leyh; sisters-in-law Leona Leyh, Betty Schwantz and Edith Herzberg; along with a host of other family members and friends.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Anna Mae’s granddaughters Amanda Siepker, Heidi Brandsma, Elizabeth Schwartz, Amelia Harren, Tracy Smith, Stephanie Ithivongkham, Emilie Erdahl, Tabitha Captain, Annabelle Lee, Chelsea Wicht and Hayley Rogers.

Active pallbearers will be grandsons Jason, Matthew and Edward Blashack, Joshua and Corey Hennagir, Joey, Jacob and Riley Boehland and Derek and Jarod Rogers.

Burial will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Bertha, MN.
