Eunice Hosea, daughter of Samuel Romulus and Minerva Gray Hosea, was born on April 3, 1840 in Franklin, Indiana. She married Edward Joseph Smith on June 9, 1859, in Union, Indiana. They had seven children in 22 years. She died on July 21, 1883, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, at the age of 43, and is buried in Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville.
