Dr. Otto D. Bertram, born Sept. 30, 1884, died Aug. 2, 1933.

Born and raised on the farm where he lived all his life, received his early education in the old one-room school house near Sunnybrook, Wayne County, Ky., attended one term of Double Head normal at the late F.M. Shearer's, in Hidalgo, Ky., in 1903. In 1907 he entered the medical college at Nashville, Tenn., and during his studies there two medical schools were consolidated, and on May 2, 1910, he was graduated from the two colleges with the highest honors ever to be given ever by both classes, winning the gold medal of honor.

Returning to his home with father and mother, he settled down to do what he could for suffering humanity, and he enjoyed a very large practice, winch was done mostly by riding horseback.

He was married to Curtis E. Russell, of Chanute, Tenn. who with one daughter and five sons survive him. Also his mother who is near her 86th birthday, and four brothers and three sisters. Father passed away on Nov. 15, 1929, at the age of 85 years.

The little doctor, (as everyone called him) professed religion and joined Pleasant Hill Baptist Church on Nov. 23, 1902. He was initiated in Freedom No. 643 F. & A. M on Jane 8, 1907, passed to F.C. degree July 13, 1907, raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason August 10, 1907, and was one of our very best loved and respected members.

His remains were laid to rest in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery with full masonic honors, conducted by Bro. Isaac Walker, of Monticello, Ky., assisted by a large number of brethren from Monticello Lodge No. 431. Others from Lodge No. 530 and Beech Bottom Lodge No. 738, and witnessed by the largest crowd ever assembled at Pleasant Hill Church, being estimated at more than 1,000 people present.

Funeral services were conducted by Bros. Isaac Hucaby, O.G. Lawless and O.F. Shearer.
