Reuben S. Bertram was born in Overton Co., TN. Some say his middle name may have been Smith but his descendants are not in agreement about this as no proof has been found. He was the son of Jacob Bertram and Louranna Miller, who in turn were the children of William Bertram/Nancy Stinson (also buried at Pleasant Hill), and George Miller and Mary Ann Denney.

Reuben Bertram, age 85, died at his home in Sunnybrook last Friday following a second stroke of paralysis. He had always been in good health until a few weeks ago when he suffered a slight stroke. Mr. Bertram was one of the leading citizens of that part of the county and was always spoken of as a fine man who was greatly liked by all who knew him. His son, County Clerk elect B.M. Bertram, attended the funeral services.
