He was born Dec. 17, 1911 in Shelby County, the son of Lewis and Myrtle Woodard Leffler. He had lived and worked in Shelbyville for several years prior to retirement and moving to Indianapolis in 1967. In Shelbyville, he had worked for Alberts and also Admiral Furniture manufacturing. He was also a machine operator at the Shelbyville Desk Co. He had been a member of the West Street United Methodist Church and was a member of the Shelbyville Eagles Lodge.
He was married to Retta Vandermullen on Dec. 31, 1944 and she survives; with six daughters, Mrs. Donald (Phyllis) Hall, Milroy, Mrs. Jack (Anna) Schuck, and Mrs. Wayne (Clarabelle) Warren Carman, both of Shelbyville, Ind., Mrs. Gerald (Patricia) Carman, Hope, Kathrine Sheppard, Columbus, Ind., and Mrs. Paul (Sharon) Hathaway, Atlanta, Ga.; four sons, Edgar L. "Sonny" Leffler, Cove City, David W. Leffler, Hope, Ind., Donald L. Leffler, Indianapolis and William E. Leffler, San Diego, Calif.; two brothers, Roy Leffler, Shelbyville and Woodson "Woody" Leffler, Wabash, Ind.; and one sister, Mrs. Joseph (Helen) Mofford, Marion, Ind.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.
The services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Murphy Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison, Shelbyville, Ind.
Burial will be in the Union Chapel Cemetery in St. Paul, Ind.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday.
