She was a native of Taylor, Arkansas and had spent most of her life in Port Arthur. She was a member of Church of Christ Church.
Survivors include her husband, Homer W. Askew of Port Arthur; one daughter, Lillie Eyler and husband Lee of Austin; one son, Don Wheelington and wife Kathy of Baytown; one step-son, L. D. Askew of Starks, LA; two sisters, Pearl Madlock Malardier of Hope, Arkansas and Viola Layha of Houston; two brothers, Ervin Madlock of Hope, Arkansas and George Madlock of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; several grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2005 at Broussard's, 505 12th Street, Nederland. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 2005 at Broussard's. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
