William Johnson moved to Texas from West Virginia in 1869. He moved to Young County, Texas that same year to work in the Graham Salt Mill before the town of Graham was established.

W.J. Johnson married Nancy Helen Fore on 28 March 1875 at Graham, Texas. Their marriage was the first marriage in Young County after the reorganization of 1874.

The couple first lived with her father, George Washington Fore in the Gooseneck community until they could purchase land of their own. William Johnson donated the land for the townsite of the Bunger Community which surrounded his ranch. William Johnson owned / operated the first cotton gin in the Bunger Community. The location is easily found.

Mr. and Mrs. Johnson moved to Graham, Texas from the Gooseneck / Bunger communities to Graham, Texas in 1906 to provide better schooling for his children.
