Services for William Fore "Bill" Johnson, 61, were held at the First Chrisitan Church officiated by Rev. L.H. Hames, the pastor.

Mr. Johnson was a veteran of World War I and former director of the Graham Chamber of Commerce. He was serving as chairman of the United Charities in Graham at the time of his death and was a well-known philanthropist through his assistance to aged persons and shut-ins.

Mr. Johnson was instrumental in completing agreements between property owners and the City of Graham for many blocks of paving the past few years. Mr. Johnson was born in the Gooseneck Community to pioneer settlers in Young County. He received his education in the Graham public schools.

Mr. Johnson was in the grocery business for 18 years and was engaged in the real estate business for the past few years. He became a member of the Christian Church in 1906 and was active in the affairs of the church. He was elected to the Official Board of Deacons and Elders in 1921 and served as a Deacon for 20 years before his election to an Elder in the church, which office he held at his death. Mr. Johnson served as choir director, secretary and treasurer of the Sunday School, church treasurer of the First Christian Church for 15 years.

Survived by his wife; two brothers - Walter Johnson and G. Ben Johnson; four sisters - Mrs. Ben Etheridge, Miss Kate Johnson, Miss Ethel Johnson, Mrs. Henry Schlittler, Jr; nieces and nephews.
