Funeral services for Charles U. Watkins, 82, of Gatesville will he held at 2 p.m. Thursday (today) at Scott's Funeral Home chapel. Rev. Ralph O'Dell will officiate and burial will be in Restland Cemetery, with Masonic rites at the graveside.
Mr. Watkins, a retired rural mail carrier, died at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the local hospital.
He had lived in Gatesville the last six years.
He was born in Anderson County April 21, 1890, and married Miss Clara May Yarbrough on June 15, 1970, at Elkhart. They moved to Gatesville from Melvin in 1966.
Mr. Watkins was a member of the Methodist Church and was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 50 years.
Surviving are his wife of Gatesville; one son, Joe Watkins of Portland, Oregon; three daughters, Mrs. F. W. Adams of San Antonio, Mrs. H. F. Cantrell of Tempe, Ariz., and Mrs. Cawthon Williams of Gatesville; three brothers, Jesse Watkins, Roy Watkins, and Douglas Watkins, all of Anderson County; and three grandchildren.
