Funeral services were conducted May 20 in Portland, Oregon for Joe U. Watkins, who died in that city on May 17.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia, of Portland; his mother, Mrs. C. U. Watkins of Gatesville; three sisters, Mrs. Frank Adams of San Antonio, Mrs. Cawthon Williams (Kathleen) and Mrs. Horace Cantrell (Marguerite) both of Gatesville; two nephews, Jim Williams of Gatesville and Walter Adams of Houston; and a niece, Mrs. Tom Chumney of San Antonio.
Mr. Watkins was retired from the National Maritime Service.
