Billie Guthrie of Santa Anna, Texas passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at 8:05 a.m. at the Coleman County Medical Center. Services were held Saturday, April 14, at 10:00 a.m. at the Santa Anna Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kathy Monroe and Rev. Gary Boyd officiating. Interment followed at the Santa Anna Cemetery under the direction of Henderson Funeral Home of Santa Anna. The family received friends Friday, April 13, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home.

Billie was born September 28, 1926 in Whon, Texas to the late Alonzo Franklin and Allene Loeva Bolton Barnett. She attended schools at Whon, Coleman, San Antonio Alamo Heights and graduated in 1944 from Ball High School in Galveston. On June 15, 1946 Billie married Montie Lester Guthrie, Jr. in Coleman and they have celebrated sixty years of marriage. She was a lifetime resident of Coleman County and member of Santa Anna Presbyterian Church where she served many years as a Sunday School teacher. Billie was a member of the Santa Anna Chapter #247 Order of the Eastern Star, past board member of the Santa Anna Cemetery Association, Lions Club and was active in many civic and social organizations. She was a draftsman for 12 years for Sparkman Engineering of Coleman, and worked in the Map Department of Coleman County Tax Appraisal District. Billie was also owner of the Treasure Hut antique shop in Santa Anna.

Survivors include her husband, Montie Lester Guthrie, Jr. of Santa Anna, Texas; two sons, Montie Lester Guthrie III and wife Sandra of Santa Anna, Texas; Lane Guthrie and Sharon of Santa Anna, Texas; two sisters, Idella Wristen of Brownwood, Texas, Avis Vaughan and husband Lee of Brownwood, Texas; six grandchildren, Montie L. (Sonny) Guthrie, IV and wife Lori, Rhett Guthrie and wife Laurel, Mitchell Guthrie, Tom Guthrie and wife Briana, Aaron Guthrie and Shala Olsen and husband Brandon; five great grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-laws, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Montie Guthrie, IV, Rhett Guthrie, Mitchell Guthrie, Tom Guthrie, Aaron Guthrie, Shala Olsen and Chris Cheaney.
