Arthur Rufus Shutes was the youngest son of Zachary Taylor Shutes & Eldora Blanch Davis. He married 18 Jan 1911 at Seattle, WA to Joy Jasmine Cooley (1892-1959); 2 children: George Taylor & Alita Jean.

Arthur married 2nd on 28 Feb 1937 in King County, Washington, to Aleta M. (Spooner) Phillips. She was born about 1900 in Missouri & was married 1st on 11 Oct 1919 in King County, Washington, to Darwin T. Phillips.

Arthur married 3rd on 5 Apr 1949 at Seattle, WA to Edmee Doris "Betty" White (1905-1971).

Arthur's remains were cremated and his ashes buried in the Shutes family plot in the old Tacoma cemetery, along with his parents, his sister Stella, and his brother Leonard.

During WWII, when Arthur registered for the military draft, he was 59, and between wives, as he named his eldest sister Bertha, Mrs. J.C. Dutton of Galt, Iowa, as someone who would always know his current address. Bertha was my maternal grandmother. steven coulter
