Gourlay A Overturf
Gourlay Andrew Overturf, son of Mr and Mrs George Overturf, was born in Clay county (sic), Nebraska, about ten miles south of Sutton, November 7, 1881. Here he grew to manhood. On October 11, 1905, he was united in marriage with Miss Amy Jennette Vickers. The young couple moved to a farm a few miles southwest of the parental home where they have resided since.

Three children were born to this union; Harry Erwin, Gracia LaVilla Anderson and Roger Owen, all of Edgar.

Mr Overturf, the deceased, was a successful farmer and a good neighbor. Much of the time during the last few years, while his sons had charge of the farm he with his wife lived in a bus visiting many places in the United States. Thus they enjoyed the beauties of nature. While at Yellowstone Park with his wife he suddenly became ill and passed away in the early morning hour of August 18, 1934.

The bereaved ones are: his beloved widow and the children, his father and mother, Mr and Mrs George Overturf, two sisters, Mrs Amanda Baker of Sutton and Mrs Julia McLaughlin of Basin, Wyo., two brothers, Forrest of Sutton and Stormie of Edgar and four grandchildren besides a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral services were held at the newly built home near their former residence. Rev J. M. Herrmann of Ong had charge of the services. A ladies' quartette brought messages of hope and comfort in song.

Interment was made in the Grove cemetery.
