Mrs George Overturf

Elnora Ranes was born at Ottumwa, Davis county (sic), Iowa, July 30, 1850. She was married to George Overturf February 10, 1870.

In 1872 they came to Nebraska in a covered wagon and homesteaded near Ong. Six years later they bought the timber claim of "Cap" Avery in Sheridan township what is now known as the Grove school. This is their present home.

To this unoin (sic) eight children were born, two dying in infancy. John, the third son passed away in September, 1926 and Gourley, the second son, in August, 1934.

On January 4 Mrs Overturf broke her hip and was moved to the York hospital, but was taken home January 20, the injury resulting in death January 25.

George Overturf, her aged life companion, S. L Overturf, the eldest son, Forest, the youngest son, Mrs Amanda Baker and Mrs Murray McLaughlin of Basin, Wyoming, 31 grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends mourn her loss.

After funeral services at the home at two o'clock Monday, January 27, conducted by Rev Hansberry of Ong interment was made in Grove Chapel cemetery near the home.
