A.L. "Zeus" Denton, 88, retired director of guidance at Hinds Community College, died Saturday of heart failure at Clinton Heritage Manor. Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home with burial in Lakewood Cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today. Mr. Denton, a New Albany native, was graduated from Mississippi College in 1929. He lettered in basketball, baseball and football. He served as student body president, on the Honor Council, Executive Council and as captain of the basketball team. He was an active member of the "M" Club. He was a member of Raymond Baptist Church, Raymond Lions Club, Raymond Coffee Club and the Order of Red, Red Rose, an honorary state education organization. He retired in 1968 from Hinds Community College after a career in education.
Survivors include: wife, Katherine M.; daughter, Betty Furstenberger of Clinton; and several nieces and nephews.
