Zola Valene Jensen Mullins
June 1, 1932 ~ July 15, 2017 (age 85)

Zola Valene Jensen Mullins, devoted wife, beloved sister and aunt, and compassionate friend, left us to dance with her sweetheart in heaven on Saturday, July 15, 2017.

Zola was born June 1, 1932, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Wilford L. and Georgia Maughan Jensen. She spent her early years in Rexburg, working on the family farm and attending school there. She graduated from Ricks College in 1954 with a B.A. in education. She then taught school in Brigham City, Utah, for two years before serving an LDS mission in Tonga for two years. Upon her return from Tonga, she obtained a teaching position in the Granite school district in Salt Lake, where she taught Special Education, and touched the lives and minds of her students over the years, until her retirement.

In the early months of 1983, Zola met the love of her life, Walter E. Mullins, at LDS Church dances, and they danced to the Salt Lake Temple on July 8, 1983, to be sealed for time and all eternity, to dance together forever. Zola and Walt could always be found working and playing together. Whether building their cabin in Island Park, Idaho, cutting down trees in the woods near the cabin, fishing on the Buffalo River or at Henry's Lake or Quake Lake, or just watching T.V., Zola would always be found at Walt's side. During his last years with Alzheimer's disease, Zola was Walt's constant caregiver and never left his side, until his death on November 5, 2016.

During her last eight months alone, Zola exhibited courage and fortitude and was always ready to tell you a story or two. Her stories were as delightful and full of fun and humor as she was. She was a friend to all and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Zola was preceded in death by her husband, Walt, her parents, and eight brothers and sisters. She is survived by one brother, Stanley Jensen of Inkom, Idaho, and by her step-children, Karen (Bruce) Powell, Shirlene (Chuck) Brown, and Darwin (Kim) Mullins, Walt's grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and by her nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express gratitude to the staff and caregivers at Heritage Place in Bountiful, and to Tammy and Dr. Wilson, her home health and hospice nurse and physician, from Utah Home Health and Hospice, for making the last few months of her life more comfortable.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cottonwood 6th Ward, 6300 South 725 East, Murray, Utah. A viewing will be held Saturday morning at the church from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. preceding the services. Interment will be at Elysian Burial Gardens. Our gratitude to Russon Bountiful Mortuary for their great kindness.
