Alfred Carl Diede was born on Nov. 5, 1914, in Ecklund Township, Burleigh County, the son of Henry and Anna Miller Diede. Alfred’s parents were Germans who emigrated from Russia in the early 1900’s and farmed in the Baldwin area where they raised Alfred and his eight sisters and brothers.
