Esther Zeiszler, 92, Bismarck, passed away on Sept. 30, 2011. She was laid to rest next to her husband, Rueben Zeiszler, at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.
Esther was born June 7, 1919, on a farm in rural Baldwin, to Henry and Anna Diede. She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Bernice Eck, Auburn, Wash., Karen Merkel, Anaheim, Calif., and Lorna and Paul Wohnoutka, Tampa, Fla.; her son and daughter-in-law, Kurtis and Lois Merkel, Amidon; and son-in-law, Richard Mallett, Stockton, Calif. Her family provided her a legacy of 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Ray Herman, her brothers and sister-in-law, Alfred Diede and Gustav and Eleanor Diede and her sister-in-law, Margaret Diede, all of Bismarck; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Helen and Ed Gutknecht, Virginia.
Esther worked for many years as a restaurant cook. She enjoyed camping with her husband, reading, playing cards and especially enjoyed visiting with family and friends during her retirement years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rueben; adult daughter, Marlene Mallet and an infant daughter, Verdene; her son-in-law, Ralph Eck; three sisters; two brothers; three brothers-in-law; and two sisters-in-law. (Krebsbach and Kulseth Funeral Service, Bowman)
