Lavinea Norris Portela, 72, died at 12:50 p.m., Tuesday in the Bear Lake Memorial Hospital following a short illness. A daughter of Walter and Rose Hannah Parker Norris, she was born March 31, 1895 in Randolph, Utah.
She and Auguston Portela were married April 2, 1913 in Randolph. He died July 23, 1966. Before moving to Montpelier in 1941, she had lived in Star Valle, where for many years Mr. Portela operated a garage. She was a member of the LDS Church. A daughter, Mrs. Wanda Stever, preceded her in death in 1951.
Surviving are seven children, Mrs. Vernal D. (Delores) Doman, Doyle Portela and Mrs. Ronald (Betty Rose) Price, all of Montpelier, Eldon Portela of North Platte, Nebraska, Mrs. Dean (Virginia) Howell of Pocatello, Russell F. Portela of Idaho Falls and Mrs. Joe (Edna) Holub of Grand Junction, Colorado, 29 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, one brother, John W. Norris of Ogden and one sister, Mrs. Emmaline Kiddy of Klamath Falls, Oregon.
Services will be at 1 p.m., Friday in the Montpelier LDS Second Ward Chapel.
