Joseph, his wife Barbara and four of their sons, Joseph, Nicholas, Frederick, and John emigrated from Schweix, Ger. in the spring of 1844 at about the same time as his sister and brother-in-law Catherine and Jacob Donner to Pendleton, NY. They purchased a 65 acre plot of land on the northwest corner of Transit and Dunnigan Rd.'s which remained in the family until after WW II, at which time the land was sold and became what is now North Buffalo Suburban Airport. Records indicate that they left their two oldest children, Peter and Barbara, who were in their late teens, in Schweix, Bavaria.
