Obituary on cemetery web site: Ethel A. Sweigart, 94, Bern Township, died Nov. 9, 2009, in her residence. She was the widow of Clair H. Sweigart, who died in March 1982. They were married in Elkton, Md., on Nov. 25, 1933. Born March 2, 1915, in Leesport, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Sallie (Hoch) Oxenreiter. During her younger years, her life was devoted to raising her five children. She also was employed as a mender for Gloray Knitting Mill, Robesonia, until her retirement. She was a member of St. Thomas Church, Bernville, for over 60 years. She was an avid sports fan and loved her Phillies. She enjoyed making beautiful cross-stitch pictures to give to her loved ones. Reading the newspaper and magazines was her passion, and she was always interested in talking about current events. During the holidays, everyone appreciated the love that went into her delectable fudge, scrumptious peanut butter pie, and her hearty appetite. She looked forward to her bi-weekly excursions to the hairdresser and to going out for dinner. She is survived by four sons: Donald E. Sweigart, husband of Barbara, of Indianapolis, Ind., David L. Sweigart, husband of Camille, of Marble Falls, Texas, Dennis P. Sweigart, widower of Jane, of Hyde Park, and Dean A. Sweigart, husband of Stephanie, of Mohrsville; and one daughter, Dawn M., wife of Carl Hassler of Myerstown. There are also eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by three brothers: Harold, Mark and Richard Oxenreiter; two sisters, Deborah Keppley and Dorothy Hippert; one grandson, Mitchell Sweigart; and two daughters-in-law, Jane and Sandra Sweigart. Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. in Milkins Funeral Home Inc., 4914 Kutztown Road, Temple. Entombment will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery Mausoleum, Laureldale. The family will receive friends Friday one hour prior to service time in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the memorial fund of St. Thomas Church, Bernville, PA 19506.
