William "Bill" Ryle Martin, 61, of Sterling passed away July 23, 2017 after a short battle with cancer. Bill was born Oct. 21, 1955 to W.E. "Mike" and G. Joann (Blair) Martin in Sterling, CO.


A graveside service will be held 10:00 am, Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Riverside Cemetery with Jason Ralston officiating.


He joined the Military the day after graduating from Sterling High School in 1974. He was stationed at Fort Hood, TX. After 4 years in the service, Bill moved to California. He returned to Colorado in 1983. Bill ran a successful lawn and tree service for several years. Bill's other jobs included working in the oil field, the beef plant, the landfill, and working with the developmentally disabled.


Bill enjoyed fishing, camping, rock collecting, gold panning and good rock 'n' roll. Although he had no children of his own he loved children. He was also fond of cats, dogs, and animals of any kind.


Bill is survived by his sister Teri and husband Bryan Strohmeyer; special friend Devie Miller, and her daughters Sarah and Ashley; as well as Dev's grandson Dillon; numerous cousins, 1 aunt and 1 uncle.


He is preceded in death by his parents Mike and Joann Martin, and brother Kelly Martin.
