Evelyn Burleson, 91, of Amarillo went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 4, 2012, after a brief bout with Alzheimer's Disease.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, June 8, 2012, at The Church at Quail Creek, 801 Tascosa Rd., with Dr. Stan Coffey, Senior Pastor of TCQC, and Dale Moreland, Asst. Pastor to Adults of TCQC, officiating. Private burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Mrs. Burleson was born April 26, 1921, in Panhandle to Jim and Jewel Lain. She graduated from Olton High School, where she was active in sports and excelled in
academics.

She married Al Burleson in Plainview on Aug. 5, 1939. They were married 71 years, during which time she was a homemaker and later was employed at Pantex and Amarillo Air Force Base. Evelyn was active in her church's women's ministries, music ministry and was pastor's secretary.

She was preceded in death by three sisters; a brother; her parents; her husband of 71 years; and a son, Kenneth Burleson.

Survivors include three children, Tom Burleson, Jim Burleson and wife Betty, Laina Bartlow and husband Dave; grandchildren, Nannette Burleson Evans and husband David, Cheree Burleson, Trey Burleson and wife Julie, Keven Burleson and wife Apryl, Stacey Burleson Gee and husband Steve, Shawn Nelson and wife Danetta, Josh Nelson and wife Keri, Suzann Bartlow O'Brien and husband Bill, Summer Nelson Lea and husband Raymond, Bruce Burleson and wife Stephanie, Brenda Burleson Perkins and husband Art, Belinda Burleson Gallegos and husband Arnie, and Melanie Burleson Anderson and husband John; 34 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials go to donors' choice; The Church at Quail Creek, 801 Tascosa Rd, Amarillo, TX 79124; Bivins Memorial Nursing Home, 1001 Wallace Blvd, Amarillo, TX 79106; or The Alzheimer's Association, 1400 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo, TX 79106.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, June 7, 2012, at the funeral home.
