Laina Jewel Bartlow – August 31, 2017

Laina Jewel Burleson Bartlow, 73, of Amarillo went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 31, 2017 after a year long battle of cancer. Memorial Services will be held Monday, September 4, 2017 at The Church at Quail Creek with Dale Moreland officiating.  Private burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery with arrangements by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Amarillo.   
Mrs. Bartlow was born October 23, 1943 in Dodge City, Kansas to Albert and Evelyn Burleson.  She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1962, where she was active in music and theater. She later graduated from the Paralegal Institute in Scotsdale, Arizona and worked as a Paralegal for over twenty years.   
She married, Kenneth David Bartlow and recently celebrated 32 years of marriage.  Laina was a member of Sweet Adelines International for over 20 years and Director of the Amarillo Chorus for 12 years.  She was also a member of a quartet, The Sharpsichords and won several competitions including Regional Competitions.  Laina also participated in the music program at San Jacinto Baptist Church now known as The Church at Quail Creek, which included directing children’s choir, women’s Bible Study, church choir and solos.   
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Kenneth Burleson of Albuquerque and Tom Burleson of Amarillo.  Survivors include her husband, Dave Bartlow of the home, 2 sons, Shawn and wife Danetta Nelson of Arlington, Josh Nelson of Lubbock, 2 daughters, Suzann and husband Bill O’Brien of Crystal Lake, IL and Summer and husband Raymond Lea of Amarillo; brother Jim and wife Betty Burleson of Amarillo; 11 grandchildren, Deidre, Mikala, Kaleigh, Kristina, Noah, Hannah, Dharma, Madi, Lainie, Landri and Natalie and countless nieces and nephews.   
The family would like to thank the BSA Hospice of the Southwest and Hospice staff at Bivins Pointe for all of their love, care and support this past year for not only Laina, but our entire family! The family suggests memorials go to Bivins Pointe 6600 Killgore Dr., Amarillo, TX 79106.
