CONOVER - Charles Luther Pannell, 72, of North Oxford Street in Claremont, died May 6, 2000, at Catawba Memorial Hospital in Hickory. Born April 25, 1928, in Catawba County, he was a son of the late Luther and Annie Sigmon Pannell.
He was owner and operator of Claremont Recapping tire company.
Survivors include four sons, Larry C. Pannell and Bruce P. Pannell of Claremont and Michael L. Pannell and Randy C. Pannell of Conover; two brothers, Leiter Pannell of Claremont and Martin Pannell of Conover; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Jim Cone at 3 p.m. Monday at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Claremont. [The texts were Isaiah 40: 1-11, Romans 8: 31-39, and John 14: 1-6.] Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will be at the church one hour prior to the service.
