CONOVER - Annie Elizabeth Sigmon Pannell, 90, of the N.C. Lutheran Home, died Sunday, Aug. 25, 1996, at the N.C. Lutheran Home. Born Dec. 16, 1905, in Catawba County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Susan Lackey Sigmon.
A member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, she retired from the textile industry.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Pannell; five brothers, Roy Sigmon, Barnett Sigmon, Glenn Sigmon, Robert Sigmon and J.T. Sigmon; three sisters, Ather Mae Long, Neta Sigmon and Ora Lee McRee; her stepmother, Bertha Burch Sigmon; and a grandchild.
Survivors include three sons, Leiter Pannell, Charles Pannell and Martin Pannell of Catawba County; a brother, Earl Pannell of Catawba County; two sisters, Edna Warren and Dorothy Smith of Catawba County; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Jim Cone at 4 p.m. today at her church. The body will be placed in the church 45 minutes before the service. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Pannell, Larry Pannell, Bruce Pannell, Randy Pannell, Greg Pannell, Robert Pannell and Monroe Pannell. The family will be at the church from 2:30 to 4 p.m. today and, at other times, at the residence of Annie and Leither Pannell.
