THE SPRINGFIELD DAILY REPUBLICAN (SPRINGFIELD, MASS.) WEDNESDAY 23 JUNE 1920, P. 6:

Death of George Canon
George Canon, 83, who lived on the mountain near Goose pond, in the township of Tyringham, died this morning of old age, although he has been active up to very recently. Mr. Canon was the son of John Canon and had spent his entire life as a mountain farmer, being a somewhat unusual character as he retained all the customs of the old-time New Englander. He made weekly visits into Lee village and was better known than some of the residents of the town. He was never married and leaves a brother Nathan Canon and three sisters Mrs. James B. Taylor, Mrs. Emma Heath and Mrs. H. B. Moore.
