Metter - Herbert Crooms, 70, died Friday, April 25, 2003 at home. The Candler County native and lifelong resident was a farmer, retired from D.O.T and Candler County Road Crew. The Korean War veteran was a member of Cedar St. Baptist Church, Adult 5 Sunday School and Cedar Street Brotherhood. He was known for his humorous wit. Survivors: wife, June Milton Crooms; twin brother and sister-in-law, Hubert and Louise Crooms; sisters, Catherine Meeks and Mattie Pearl Armstrong all of Metter; several nieces and nephews. Visitation: 6:00-9:00 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home. Funeral Services: 2:00 p.m. Sunday, at Cedar Street Baptist Church. Burial: Mt. Olive Cemetery.
