Theresa Ann (Voros) Lee b 20 Jan 1900 Fertoszentmiklos, Sopron, Hungary d 7 Nov 1952 Bridgewater, Oneida, New York.

The Voros family emigrated 1908 from Hungary to Antwerp, aboard the KROONLAND, and arrived Ellis Island Oct 20. They probably took a train to McAdoo, PA, where there was work in the coal mines. Then the family moved to South Bend, IN about 1911.

Theresa was a Roman Catholic, and became a member of Our Lady of Hungary parish, South Bend, IN.

1917 - Theresa was listed in South Bend School records, "7th Ward" Book 57 p 264.

Theresa did not complete high school, but found work in a watch factory.

1919 - Theresa was listed in the South Bend City Directory, as a worker at Russ Co, who lived at 1628 Kendall, South Bend.

Theresa married 20 Jan 1923 in South Bend, IN to Roy Chalmer Lee b 8 Dec 1902 d 5 Aug 1958. Roy was not Catholic, so the wedding was performed at the back of the church.

Theresa became a naturalized citizen while living in Washington D.C. during 1940s, because her husband teased her that he would ship her back to Hungary. Bertha May Litton Martin, Theresa's daughter's future mother-in-law, got information for Theresa and helped her study for her naturalization exam.

Theresa once chased away a burglar by advancing down the stairs of her home, holding out her hand as if she had a gun.

The women of Theresa's family were fanatic for clean houses. Theresa used to faint while doing laundry in a steamy basement during hot weather.

Theresa was killed in a car accident on icy roads during a family trip to visit her husband's sister Thelma who at that time lived in Massachusetts. The car spun around during a stop for an intersection at the bottom of a hill. Theresa, frightened, attempted to leap out of the car, but was caught between the car and a building. Her head was crushed beyond recognition. (Her brains carried away in a bucket). In the car were her husband Roy (driving), her daughter, her son-in-law, her granddaughter, and her father-in-law Fred, whose wife Clara had died of breast cancer seven days previously.
