WOODLAND - Services for Hiram Welker Jr., 70, of Woodland, who died at the DuBois Regional Medical Center West on Friday, Dec. 1, 1995, will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at The Bennett and Houser Funeral Home Inc., Clearfield, with the Rev. Barry E. Neal and the Rev. David Y. Norris officiating.

Born on May 12, 1925, in Clearfield, he was a son of Hiram Welker Sr. and Beatrice (Showers) Welker. He retired in 1984 from the Lady Jane Collieries. He was a World War II Army Veteran.

He was a member of the Clearfield Michael Sicks Post 1785 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of the Clearfield Fraternal Order of Eagles Aeries 812. Friends will be received from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday and from 10 a.m. until services on Monday at the funeral home.


The Fraternal Order of Eagles will conduct a memorial service at 6:45 p.m. on Sunday. Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by members of the Clearfield American Legion and VFW Posts.

Interment will follow at the Bradford Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine E. (Spriggle) Welker, to whom he had been married for 50 years; a son, Ronald L. Welker of Curwensville; and two daughters, Randie W. Grunig of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Barbara M. Liegey of Pleasant Valley, Woodland.

Also surviving are nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Woodrow Welker of Curwensville and William Welker; and one sister, Helen Welker of Olanta.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

The family suggests contributions be made to the Shriners Crippled Children's Burn Hospitals, c/o Jaffa Temple, P.O. 1984, Altoona, PA,16603
