MRS. CHAS. PARCELL DEAD
End Came Saturday at 64 Years of Age— Burial Monday Was Last Service at M. E. Church South.
Mrs. Charles Parcell died at her home in the east part of Edina, where she had lived nearly forty years, about 10:30 o'clock Saturday morning of colitis, from which she had been afflicted several years but had been feeling bad only a month and became worse the last week before her death.
Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at the M. E. Church South, which was prepared especially for her funeral at her request, and was thus the last service held there, as the seats and furnishings and other church property in the building were sold to the Brashear congregation and were removed yesterday, being hauled overland by wagons. Mrs. Parcell had also long been a member of the Missionary Society of this church, which is the last surviving society. Burial was in Linville cemetery.
The husband and three children survive, the latter being Mrs. John Kelley, Mrs. Annie Porter and Elmer R. Parcell, all living in Edina near the old home place. She also leaves six grandchildren and five brothers and sisters, Tom and Will Boice of Kansas City, Mo, Dave Boice of Rover, Mo., and Mrs. E. F. Shubert of Kirksville and Mrs. Alfred Overton of Kansas City, Mo. There were originally twelve children in the family, her death making the seventh since they became grown.
Mrs. Parcel! was born in Ohio February 3, 1857, and came to this state when small. Her parents were Samuel and Sarah Townsend Boice, and as Miss Mary Louise Boice she was married to Charles Parcell by Reverend Bond February 29, 1880, at the Barnhill school house.
Those from away in attendance at the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Overton of Kansas City, Mo., the latter being the youngest sister; William Boice, the youngest child and brother of the family, also of Kansas City; Mr. and Mrs. Elwood F. Shubert of Kirksville, who were called here about 7 o'clock Saturday morning by Mrs. Shubert's sister's serious illness, and although they left in their car as soon as they could get away reached here about an hour after Mrs. Parcell's death; also Tom Lockett of LaBelle and Joe and "Jimmie" Porter of Brookfield, who came Sunday night.
