Josephine B. Sabattini, 89, of Freeport, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, in VNA Inpatient Hospice, Butler Township. She was born March 29, 1921, in the Natrona section of Harrison Township, a daughter of the late Stanley Olszewski and Blanche (Cieslinski) Olszewski. She resided in the Freeport area all of her life. She was employed as a machinist for Allegheny Ludlum, Brackenridge Works, Department 11, during World War II from 1942 to 1946. A member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Freeport, she enjoyed homemaking and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Geno Sabattini, who died Aug. 13, 2008, and whom she married April 29, 1946. Survivors include her sons, Michael P. (Yvonne) Sabattini, of Harrison Township, and Gregory J. Sabattini, of Freeport; a daughter, Donna (Max) Summerville, of Rock Cave, W.Va.; brothers, Leonard Olszewski, of Natrona, and Frank Olszewski, of Natrona Heights; sisters, Barbara Rutkowski, of Brackenridge, Lottie Sikorski, of Natrona Heights, and Sophie Pulcini, of Allegheny Township; and five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Edward and Anthony Olszewski; and two sisters, Stella Figliano and Steffy Dubik. At Josephine's request, there will be no public visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a Christian Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Freeport, with her pastor, the Rev. Edward Volz, as celebrant. Private burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Freeport. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the DENNIS J. DAUGHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 324 Fourth St., Freeport, 724-295-3100.
