Mabel Westwick was born in Rose Grove, Iowa, took her confirmation vows on October 20, 1907, and attended college in Jewell, Iowa. Once a nurse in the hospital near Webster City, she took care of her brother, Jesse, who was there for a time.

Mabel was united in marriage to Galy Edvenson, a man of firm resolution and character, strong in religious convictions, at the Rose Grove church on September 30, 1914. The attendants were Jennie Skilbred, Arthur Westwick, Anna Westwick, and Amelia Edvenson, Galy's younger sister. It was a large wedding and refreshments were served at the house afterwards.

Galy and Mabel farmed all their lives in the Williams area. He was musically inclined, playing the organ as well as the accordian. A love of music was an attribute that he passed on to his children.

Mabel Edvenson was a person of pleasant disposition and firm beliefs, but she suffered much from ill health during her latter years and required considerable care. Two sons, Garland and Howard, died in infancy.
