Probably Freeman Journal, March 1940

Velma June Edvenson was born near Williams, June 13, 1926, the youngest daughter of Galy and Mabel Edvenson. She died at her home, north of Williams, March 16, 1940, after an illness of four months, at the age of 13 years, 9 months and 3 days.

During the summer of 1938 she realized her need of a Saviour from sin. She accepted Christ as her substitute, as her Saviour.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her father, Galy Edvenson, her stepmother, two sisters, Genevieve and Maurine, two brothers, Everett, of Williams, Gaylord, a student at St. Olaf college, Northfield, Minn., two stepbrothers, Donald and Wesley Hustad, students at John Fletcher college, Oskaloosa, and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Edvenson, of Williams, and her grandfather, Adolph Westwick.

Her mother, two brothers, and a half sister preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held March 18, at the Rose Grove Lutheran church, Pastor G. O. Mona, bringing the message. Former Pastor H. E. Jacobson, of Huxley, brought a greeting from God's Word. Mrs. Walter Berggren, of Polk City, sang "In the Upper Garden," Pastor and Mrs. Jacobson sang, "The Lights of Home," Joe Anderson and Lawrence Isvik sang, "Resting" and "Safe In the Arms of Jesus."

The pallbearers were: Oliver Hill, Lennard [Leonard] Westwick, Wayne Caudle, Wesley Swenson, Jasper Riskadahl, and Archie Wicks. Her remains are now resting in the family lot in Rose Grove cemetery until resurrection morn.

A sum of $33.50 was given in her memory by friends for home and foreign missions.

A loving daughter, a darling sister, and a cheerful helping friend has been called from our midst and is now free from all bodily suffering. She has gone on to meet her Saviour, mother, and loved ones, and is beckoning for the others to follow.

Hushed is the voice we loved to hear in song. Now she has joined the great choir who praise Him who has provided salvation for all. She prayed for her relatives, friends, classmates, confirmation classmates, and especially the foreign missionaries, and they are truly being answered. "God moves in a mysterious way His wonders to perform."
