Mrs. Farmer was born on Christmas day, December 25, 1922 in Anderson County where she had continued to live.
She retired as a administrative secretary in 1979 from the Department of Energy after working for 36 years.
She was a member of the Batley Baptist Church where she was very active and served in several areas. She was a former church choir director, a Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Teacher and was involved with the youth group. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 211, Oliver Springs where she enjoyed the Rainbow Girls.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Farmer, by parents, Clarence "Penny" Braden and Nina Mae Braden Reed, by brothers; Harold J. Braden and Edwin C. Braden, a granddaughter, Amy Houser, and step-father, James Reed.
Naomi is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Ray Farmer and (Gail) of Knoxville, a daughter and son-in-law, Jamie "Missy" Aslinger and (Marty) of Oliver Springs, a grandson, Austin Newport of Clinton, and two great-grandsons, Blake Byrum and Grant Houser.
She is also survived by sisters; Mary "Sunnie" Walls of Oak Ridge and Lillian O. McKamey of the Batley Community, by sister-in-laws, Mildred Braden of Coalfield and Mozelle Braden of Mossy Grove, by several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
The family expressed their gratitude to care givers; Diane Braden, Becky Norwood, Kari Russell and Valorie and Crystal Dickens.
The family will receive friends Monday, August 22, 2011, between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Luke Kidwell officiating. Burial and graveside service will be held Tuesday, August 23, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Anderson Memorial Garden. Sharp Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
