Born August 1, 1925 in the Batley Community to Nina and Clarence Braden. She lived an active and blessed life.
She was preceded in death by her parents and Nina's second husband James Reed, husband Glen R. Walls, brothers, Harold and Edwin Braden and sisters Naomi Farmer and Lillian Hensley.
She is survived by her daughter Patty Simmons (Clint), son Mike Walls (Karen), grandchildren, Kimberly Easterday (Kevin), Christopher Simmons (Nicole), Kim Campbell (Justin), Johnathan Walls (Katie) and Courtney Cook (Robert) and 10 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Sunnie lived her whole life in this area. She was going to Robertsville High School when Oak Ridge was built and transferred to Oliver Springs High School. She later worked at Y-12 as a Calutron Gal. She worked at Woolworths in downtown Oak Ridge from the day it opened until the day it closed. She later worked at Sears until she retired in her early 70's.
Sunnie was a very loving and giving person that touched the life of many. She was an excellent cook that enjoyed hosting family events as long as her health allowed. She enjoyed sewing and made many clothes and quilts through the years. She got the nickname "Sunshine" as a little girl. It was later shortened to Sunnie. She continued to spread sunshine her entire life. She will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her, but we celebrate that she in a better place and is happy with loved ones that have already passed.
Special Thanks are extended to her caregivers, Nina Carlisle, Wanda Clowers and Gina Jackson, who made it possible for the family to keep her in her home.
The family will receive friends Monday, January 2, 2022 between the hours of 6:00 -7:00pm at Premier Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 7:00pm in the chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Luke Kidwell officiating.
