Ethel L. Coning, age 93, of Eaton, Ohio, passed away Monday, Oct. 17, 2005. She was born May 30, 1912, in Preble County, Ohio, to the late Roy and Emmaline (Smith) Mattix.

She was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church, Eaton, Ohio, and the Eaton Senior Citizens. She worked at the Indianapolis Glove Factory for many years and then retired as a seamstress from Steffin Canvas Co.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth Coning, who passed away in 1991; brothers, Carl and Glen Mattix; and sisters, Zelma Dull, Cecil Myers and Martha Spivey.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Linda Coning of Eaton, Ohio; daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Mel Rohlfs of Fairfield, Calif.; grandchildren, Chris (Angi) Coning, Michael (Christine) Coning, Sam (Kelly) Rohlfs and Jill Rohlfs; great-grandchildren, Steven and Maxwell Rohlfs, Max, Ladia and Alexandria Coning; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, 2005, at the Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, Eaton, Ohio, with Rev. Steven Cann officiating. Burial will be in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton, Ohio. The family will receive friends from noon-1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, 2005, at the funeral home.
