Source: A list of Georgians buried at Gordonsville up to October 30, 1862 published in the Southern Confederacy newspaper published at Atlanta, Ga., issue of Wednesday, November 5, 1862. Maplewood Cemetery is the final resting place for more than 700 Confederate soldiers, many of whom were brought in to Gordonsville's Civil War receiving hospital at the converted Gordonsville Exchange Hotel. Soldiers who died there were interred in a section of the town cemetery set aside for them. The individual graves are unmarked.
