Dilly Marie (Bruno) LaPietra, 85, of Narragansett Avenue, Westerly, died July 6, 2005, at her home. She was the widow of the late Frank “Babe” LaPietra.
Born in Westerly, daughter of the late Rico and Palma (Sculco) Bruno, Mrs. LaPietra had been employed as a counter person at Bruno’s Meat Market.
She was a communicant of the Church of the Immaculate Conception and a former member of the ladies’ auxiliary at the Calabrese Society. She loved to sew and cook. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend. She was also an avid bingo player.
She is survived by her son, David C. LaPietra of Mystic; her daughter, Rosemary A. Arnold of Westerly; her brother, Frank Bruno of Westerly; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Louise Parrilla and Theresa Romanella.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 111 High St., Westerly. Interment will be in St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly.
