MR. W. J. HURST
The death occurred in a private hospital at Wagga last night of Mr. Walter James Hurst, of 188 Gunwood street, Wagga, at the age of 57 years, after an illness of about 10 weeks. Mr. Hurst was the seventh son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Hurst, of North Wagga, and was born at Oura. He had lived all his life in Wagga and district. He married a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. P. Miller, formerly of Wagga, and now of Manly, and had followed farming pursuits in the Wagga district until recent years. He was an enthusiastic follower of cricket and played with North Wagga for some years, and often umpired in important matches. Mr. Hurst was also a member of the M.U.I.O.O.F. Lodge. He is survived by his widow, one son, Mr. Ronald Grantley Hurst, and one daughter, Miss Leonie May Hurst, both of Wagga; four brothers, Messrs. Robert J., of North Wagga, Albert, of Holbrook, Arthur, of Coolamon, and Frederick William Hurst, of Queensland, and four sisters, Mrs. G. H. Peacock, of Malebo, Mrs. E. G. Wells, of North Wagga, Mrs. G. A. M'Lear, of Wagga, and Mrs. J. W. Edmondson, of Liverpool. The funeral will leave St. John's Church of England at 3 o'clock this afternoon for the Wagga cemetery. Members of the M.U.I.O.O.F. Lodge are invited to attend.
