Viola Grace Frey Quasny Halley, her headstone reads "Viola Quasny Halley"

Viola was born in Mt. Carroll, IL, on July 23, 1918, to Benjamin and Carrie (Barkdoll) Frey. Her life centered on her family, friends, church, and her love of Jesus, and on learning and teaching. Viola received a Master's degree in Education from UW-Whitewater and taught Business Education and English at Milton and Wilmont High Schools, as well as Janesville Vocational School and Daytona Beach Community College. She tutored and coached individuals after school and in her home for many years, always finding great joy in growth and development of her students. She had a generous heart and cared for several sick and elderly friends and family members over the years. Easter, Christmas, Thanksgiving, and other holidays were a big part of Viola's life; her home was always the central gathering place for family holiday meals and family reunions were very important events in her life as they kept the family connected. Viola loved to travel and after retiring, made several trips within the U.S. and Europe with her late husband, Robert Halley. Her first husband, Paul E. Quasny, also preceded her in death and was the father of three of her children. She is survived by her children; a son-in-law; one brother and his wife; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews. Janesville Gazette 11/2/2013.
