Jewel Marie Simmons, 77, of Longview, Texas, passed away on February 11, 2013, at her home in Longview.

Marie Armstrong Simmons was born and graduated high school in Beckville, Texas.

She married Huey in 1954. They spent their first two years together in South Carolina where he was stationed in the army. They returned to Longview in 1956 where she lived for the remainder of her life. After attending business school, she worked for several years in the offices of a local insurance agency. Above all, Marie was a dedicated wife and mother. She also enjoyed quilting and a variety of other arts and crafts. She was active in her church and maintained a lifelong interest in gardening and love for animals.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Libby Armstrong Savell, and "Sis", and Albert Armstrong.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Lloyd Huey Simmons; her daughters, Brenda, Donna, Sandra, and Janice; twelve grandchildren; one great grandbaby; her sister, Mary Grisaffi; and her brothers Preston, Ross, Lee, and Herbert Armstrong.
