NEWPORT NEWS - Melvin Fred Danner, 71, passed away Saturday, Nov. 8, 1997, at Riverside Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Bluefield, W.Va., and had been a Peninsula resident for the past 35 years. He retired in 1991 as manager with Southland Corp. and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Danner is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Josephine Danner, and his daughter, Jo Ann Danner, both of Newport News; son, James Danner of Norfolk; and two sisters, Ethel Ayres and Emily White, both of Wytheville.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Weymouth Funeral Home. Graveside services were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Peninsula Memorial Park by the Rev. H. Wilson.
Expressions of sympathy may be in the form of contributions to a favorite charity
