Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late Larry LeRoy Ardis Sr. and Agnes Geddings Ardis.
He was a graduate of Edmunds High School, worked in the family business with his father and uncles for a number of years after high school; and later became one of Sumter's most trusted home builders.
Mr. Ardis was a member of Crosswell Baptist Church. He was a former member of the National Association of Realtors and the S.C. Association of Realtors. He was also a past member of the SC. Residential Home Builders Association.
Survivors besides his wife include two sons, Larry LeRoy Ardis III of Baytown, Texas and Stephan Albert Ardis of Sumter; two half-sisters, Barbara Ardis Coker of Sumter and Laura Ruth Ardis Rollinson of Columbia: his stepmother, Bertie Ardis Ardis Doverspike of Columbia; and three grandchildren, Lee Ardis of Houston, Texas, and Stephan Ardis Jr. and Emily Rebecca Ardis, both of Sumter.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Rodney Howard and the Rev. Steven E. Rohrlack officiating. Burial will be in Sumter Cemetery.
