Charles Hubert Johnny Anderson, 82, of Brighton Gardens of Greenville, former resident of Tigerville Road, Travelers Rest, S.C., died Friday, March 25, 2005.

Born in Greeneville, Tenn., on April 23, 1922, he was the son of the late Juanita Anderson Babb.

A graduate of the University of Virginia, he was a retired salesman from Burlington Northern Airfreight.

He was a former member of the Greenville Chamber of Commerce, Past President of Piedmont Traffic Club and was a former member of the Board of Directors for the Boys Home of the South.

He was a very active member and former Deacon of Earle Street Baptist Church.

Mr. Anderson was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II.

He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Ann Thackston Anderson, who died in July 2001.

Surviving are four daughters and a son, Ginger Anderson of Atlanta, Ga., Kathy Swartz and husband, Bill, of Greenville, S.C., Frances Paschal and husband, Ernie, of Lawrenceville, Ga., Marie Tilley and husband, Mike, of Travelers Rest, S.C., and Ford Anderson and wife, Rhonda, of Greer, S.C.; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be conducted Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at 11 a.m. at The Mackey Mortuary, with Dr. James G. Wooten and Dr. Stephen Clyborne officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

The family is at the home of his son, Ford Anderson, 113 Bennington Road, Greer, and will receive friends Monday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Earle Street Baptist Church, 225 W. Earle St., Greenville, SC 29609.
